New Delhi, August 6: BJP MP Naresh Bansal has launched a verbal attack on the opposition regarding the ongoing stalemate in Parliament. He accused the opposition of disrupting the proceedings instead of adhering to democratic traditions. Bansal also shared his views on controversial comments made about the Kanwar Yatra, student protests in Jharkhand, the cancellation of Rahul Gandhi‘s event in Prayagraj, and the investigation report on the Sambhal violence.
Regarding the disruption in Parliament, Bansal stated that both the ruling party and the opposition share equal responsibility to ensure smooth functioning of the house. However, he claimed that the opposition is avoiding discussions. “The government is ready to discuss every issue. During the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, the opposition sets the time for discussions but fails to allow proceedings to continue in the house. Wasting parliamentary time is detrimental not only to the government but also to the public,” he remarked. He emphasized that meaningful discussions should take place, and the opposition should contribute suggestions for the passage of public welfare laws, rather than limiting themselves to media statements.
In response to allegations made by the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha that the Home Minister is evading questions, Bansal asserted that the government is not shying away from any inquiries. He noted that if the Home Minister is not present, the Minister of State for Home is available, and under collective ministerial responsibility, any relevant minister or state minister is fully capable of responding. He accused the opposition of politicizing this issue as well.
On the controversial remarks made by Maulana Sajid Rashidi regarding the Kanwar Yatra, Bansal stated that such statements harm social harmony and brotherhood. “Those who believe in Sanatan cannot be terrorists. Attempts were made during the Congress government to coin terms like ‘saffron terrorism,’ but they did not withstand the test of time. The public has unwavering faith in Sanatan, and those making such allegations will be answered by the people themselves,” he added.
Commenting on the student protests in Jharkhand, Bansal urged the state government to engage with the students to resolve their issues. He accused opposition leaders, who have politicized student issues in Delhi, of not supporting the students in Jharkhand. “The opposition previously attempted to politicize student movements but is now failing to stand with students on real issues,” he said.
Rejecting Congress’s accusations against the BJP following the cancellation of Rahul Gandhi’s Prayagraj event, Bansal stated that the BJP is not afraid of anyone. “BJP leaders and workers are engaged with the public year-round, working to resolve their issues. Unlike other parties, we do not issue statements from air-conditioned rooms,” he asserted.
Regarding the investigation report on the Sambhal violence, Bansal mentioned that the inquiry committee has prepared its report based on available evidence and facts. “The names included in the report must have sufficient information that emerged during the investigation. The next steps will be taken within the legal framework, and the relevant agencies will act in accordance with the law,” he concluded.
