Patna, August 6: Indian political leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have strongly criticized Maulana Sajid Rashidi for his alleged comments comparing Kanwar Yatra pilgrims to terrorists. They labeled his statement as unacceptable and disrespectful to devotees.
Bihar Minister Mithilesh Tiwari remarked that Rashidi’s ideal must have been Osama bin Laden, which explains his choice of words. He emphasized that such language cannot be tolerated in the country. Tiwari stated that those who use such derogatory terms against Ram and Shiva devotees will find no place in the afterlife. He noted that the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh showers flowers on Shiva devotees, while Bihar’s Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has laid sand to ease the path for Kanwar Yatra participants.
Bihar Minister Dilip Jaiswal added that every religion has individuals who are mentally disturbed. He suggested that these individuals, lacking meaningful engagement, often make provocative statements to remain in the spotlight.
BJP leader Pawan Jaiswal expressed that Rashidi’s language towards Shiva devotees is unfortunate. He argued that such individuals should be imprisoned for treason to understand who the real terrorists are. He accused Rashidi of attempting to sow discord in society, attributing his remarks to the impact of the FCRA law, which has curtailed funding to fake madrasas. Jaiswal called for government action in response to Rashidi’s comments.
Meanwhile, RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav stated that every believer has their own faith. He urged that followers of any faith should refrain from making offensive comments about others’ beliefs. Yadav criticized those who spread hatred, asserting that no one has the right to attack another’s faith.
