BJP Leader Shah Nawaz Hussain Calls for Enhanced Safety Measures After Recent Tragedies

Shah Nawaz Hussain expresses sorrow over recent tragedies and urges stronger safety measures to prevent future incidents during festivals.

New Delhi, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : BJP leader Shah Nawaz Hussain expressed deep sorrow regarding the recent tragedies in Kolkata and Gwalior, which claimed the lives of several devotees. During an interview, he described the stampede at a Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata as a heartbreaking incident that resulted in the deaths of 19 people, while many others sustained injuries. The West Bengal government has announced compensation for the affected families, and the Prime Minister has pledged support during this difficult time.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Union Home Minister canceled all scheduled meetings. Meanwhile, Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, visited the site and announced financial assistance for the victims. Hussain emphasized the need to strengthen safety measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

He noted that thousands of pandals are set up across West Bengal during Durga Puja, and such obstacles are typically avoided. Heavy rainfall was cited as a contributing factor to this tragic event. Hussain assured that every possible support would be extended to the affected families.

Hussain also expressed condolences over the incident in Gwalior, where an out-of-control truck struck devotees, resulting in the deaths of 12 to 13 individuals. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has taken cognizance of the matter and is providing necessary assistance to the bereaved families.

In a separate issue, Hussain criticized those who disrupt public order during festivals, claiming that certain individuals intentionally create disturbances to attract media attention. He pointed out that during the festive season from Navratri to Diwali, people engage in shopping, participate in Durga Puja, watch Ramleela, and enjoy Garba and Dandiya events.

He further alleged that these individuals often assure compliance with bail conditions when action is taken against them, only to later violate those terms.
