Guwahati, April 7: During an election rally in the Golakganj assembly constituency, Assam BJP President and MP Dilip Saikia addressed a gathering in support of party candidate Ashwini Roy on Monday. He claimed that Congress policies are detrimental to the interests of Assam.
Earlier in the day, Saikia led a motorcycle rally of party workers to the rally site at Lakshmimari High School’s playground. The roadshow and subsequent gathering attracted a large crowd, which BJP leaders hailed as a strong show of support ahead of the assembly elections.
In his speech, Saikia launched a sharp attack on Congress, accusing the party of adopting policies that he claimed harm the interests of Assam’s indigenous communities.
He described the upcoming elections as a decisive battle—one side representing the BJP’s development-oriented governance and the other comprising forces working against Assam’s interests.
Saikia also targeted Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, referencing recent legal issues involving him. He stated that those who presented fabricated facts to target Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma would face the law of the land.
He alleged that Congress is struggling with internal issues and lacks a clear framework for governance.
Saikia contrasted this with the BJP’s performance in Assam, highlighting infrastructure development, welfare measures, and efforts to protect the rights of indigenous people as key achievements of the ruling party.
He urged voters to support BJP candidate Ashwini Roy, emphasizing that political stability under BJP leadership is essential to maintain the state’s development momentum.
The rally concluded with party workers expressing confidence in securing a decisive mandate in Golakganj, as campaigning intensifies across all assembly constituencies ahead of the elections.
