Bengaluru, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions are escalating in Bengaluru as Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar faces backlash over his claims of vote theft. Shivakumar alleged that between 6 to 7 million votes were stolen and that electronic voting machines (EVMs) were compromised. In response, BJP leader and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) CT Ravi has demanded that an FIR be filed against the Chief Minister.
Ravi stated, “The Chief Minister has made serious allegations regarding the theft of 6 to 7 million votes. An FIR should be registered against him for these false claims about EVM hacking.” He emphasized that the responsibility for investigating such complaints lies with the Election Registration Officer (ERO), not with the police or the Congress party.
He further elaborated, “We have submitted a written complaint regarding unique names and numbers in certain constituencies due to Form 7. If our complaint is valid, names will be removed; if not, our appeal will be rejected.”
Ravi asserted that the right to file an FIR rests solely with the ERO. “We are exercising our right to complain. It is the responsibility of the Block Level Officer (BLO) to determine the validity of these names,” he added.
Addressing other accusations from the Congress party, Ravi questioned, “Is it a crime to provide printed forms? Has the Election Commission issued any directive against printed forms?” He defended the use of artificial intelligence to address concerns over common names and details, stating, “We merely sought clarification. Does this result in voters being removed? That is the ERO’s responsibility, not the BJP’s.”
Ravi concluded by reiterating his concerns about the 91,000 applications submitted through Form 7. He challenged Shivakumar’s claims, asking where the 71 million names are if 6 million have been removed. “The police do not have the authority to file an FIR in electoral matters. The Congress is misusing its rights to falsely accuse the BJP, and we will continue to fight back against these allegations.”
