BJP Condemns Alleged Attempt to Halt Vande Mataram at Congress Headquarters

New Delhi, August 16: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has condemned an alleged attempt by Congress to prevent the singing of ‘Vande Mataram‘ during Independence Day celebrations at the Congress headquarters. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey shared a video on the social media platform X, targeting Congress leaders.

The video features Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi engaged in conversation, with claims that they were attempting to stop the singing of ‘Vande Mataram.’ Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is also seen in the footage.

In the caption of the video, Dubey stated, “This is a snippet of the conversation between Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi regarding the disrespect shown to our national song, ‘Vande Mataram.’ The decision rests with the nation; it is better for me to remain silent.”

Earlier, the BJP had shared a video on social media showing discomfort from Sonia Gandhi after the initial lines of ‘Vande Mataram.’ It was suggested that she indicated to stop the song. Rahul Gandhi appeared uneasy throughout the performance and even after the song concluded. The BJP criticized the Gandhi family’s apparent discomfort with India’s cultural consciousness and heritage, questioning why such unease persists.

Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra also condemned the alleged attempt to halt ‘Vande Mataram,’ demanding an apology from Congress and labeling the incident as “an insult to the nation.”

Malhotra stated, “I strongly condemn this act.” He added that it violates the rules set by Parliament.

He further demanded that Congress immediately apologize to the nation and clarified whether the Gandhi family has an issue with ‘Vande Mataram’ or with ‘Bharat Mata.’

Malhotra emphasized that the Gandhi family and Congress leadership have once again demonstrated a lack of respect for the nation, its culture, and the martyrs who embraced the gallows while chanting ‘Vande Mataram.’

In 1950, Parliament granted ‘Vande Mataram’ the status of a national song, and disrespecting it is an affront to both the Constitution and democratic institutions.

He concluded by stating that as long as Congress views patriotism as a stigma, the nation will not forgive them.
