BJP Claims Victory in UP MLC Elections, Eyes 2027 Assembly Polls
BJP leaders assert their win in the UP MLC elections, claiming momentum for the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections.

Lucknow, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh intensified following the results of the recent elections for 11 seats in the state’s Legislative Council. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has proclaimed its victory, asserting confidence in securing a majority in the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections. In contrast, the Samajwadi Party has faced allegations of misconduct regarding the election process.
Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan, a BJP member of the Rajya Sabha, stated that the party’s success in the MLC elections positions them favorably for the future. He dismissed claims made by Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav about delays in announcing results for the Varanasi teacher seat, arguing that no pressure was exerted on officials. Chauhan emphasized the fairness of the elections, noting that the electorate’s decision must be respected.
BJP state secretary Govind Narayan Shukla expressed satisfaction with the results, highlighting that the party maintained its six seats and even increased its vote share. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Minister Suresh Khanna commented on the election outcomes, pointing out that while six candidates from the NDA emerged victorious, the Samajwadi Party should not overly celebrate its four wins.
Khanna urged the Samajwadi Party to recognize that their success stemmed from the individual efforts of candidates rather than a broad endorsement of their policies. He criticized Akhilesh Yadav’s negative rhetoric, suggesting that it detracts from constructive discourse.
Dr. Hari Singh Dhillon, re-elected as a BJP MLC from Amroha, defended the integrity of the election process, attributing the party’s support among educators to the government’s initiatives in the education sector. He refuted allegations of administrative manipulation, calling such claims baseless and asserting that the elections were conducted honestly.
Dhillon expressed confidence that the general public remains aligned with the BJP, dismissing the notion that the Samajwadi Party’s limited successes in the MLC elections indicate a significant shift in political sentiment.
