BJP broke all records of misuse of power in Council polls: Akhilesh

Lucknow, April 9 : Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday alleged that the double engine government broke all the records of misuse of the power in Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council polls. In a statement issued here, Akhilesh alleged, “BDC, village heads and Zila Panchayat members were prevented from casting their votes at a number of places. Serious complaints of intimidating voters to vote in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates and booth capturing by the government protected musclemen of the party and government machinery have been received.” He said that the Chief Election Commissioner was informed in advance about BJP conspiracy to rig the polls and win by hook or crook, but questions are being raised on the credibility of the elections as stern action was not taken. Akhilesh said, “SP has faith in democracy. We are grateful to all the voters who voted in the favour of the party candidates in these MLC elections. SP’s fight against the arrogance of the ruling party will continue.” He said that as per the information received in Dhanpatganj block in Sultanpur district polling agents sat outside the polling station and pressurised to show the ballot paper before casting votes. “At Amethi polling station despite irregularities the administration remained a mute spectator. The SP was driven away from the polling station in Bhatni in Deoria-Kushinagar by the Sub Divisional Magistrate,” he alleged. AB SHK2012
