
Patna, February 8: Bihar’s Minister Shreyasi Singh has lauded Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his explosive innings in the U-19 World Cup final. Suryavanshi scored an impressive 175 runs off 80 balls against England, helping India set a formidable total.
Minister Singh expressed pride in Suryavanshi’s talent, noting that he has made a name for himself at such a young age. She hopes to see him don the senior Indian team jersey soon. In his remarkable innings, Suryavanshi did not give the English bowlers a chance to recover.
Discussing sports infrastructure, Minister Singh emphasized the need for development that nurtures young talent not just from Bihar, but across India. She mentioned that two international-standard cricket grounds are being built in Bihar. The government is also working to strengthen infrastructure for Olympic events. The initiative ‘Medal Lao, Naukri Pao’ is no longer just a plan on paper; it has become a reality in Bihar.
Singh stated that if India hosts the Olympics in 2036, she is confident that athletes from Jamui and Bihar will participate. Continuous efforts are being made to improve sports infrastructure, and she is committed to advancing this vision. She highlighted the importance of quality in sports, noting that both women and men are making significant strides in this field.
The minister believes that more young talents should emerge to represent the state and the nation.
