Bihar Mining Inspector Escapes Police Custody Amid Illegal Sand Mining Allegations

Mumbai, March 21: A shocking incident has emerged from Gopalganj district in Bihar, where a government official has escaped from police custody, causing a stir within the police department.

The incident occurred in the Yadopur police station area, where mining inspector Saurabh Abhishek was arrested on Friday evening for alleged illegal sand mining in the Gandak River. This action was taken under the directives of District Magistrate Pawan Kumar Sinha. After his arrest, the inspector was placed under police supervision at the station. However, he managed to evade the police and escape during the night.

District Magistrate Pawan Kumar Sinha stated that inspections of sand ghats were conducted on Friday, revealing serious irregularities. During this operation, the role of mining inspector Saurabh Abhishek was found to be suspicious, leading to the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against him and his subsequent arrest.

Following the District Magistrate’s orders, District Mineral Development Officer Anil Kumar registered an FIR against the mining inspector at the Yadopur police station. This administrative action has created panic in the district, instilling fear among those involved in illegal mining activities. Reports indicate that there is currently no valid tender for sand mining at any ghat along the Gandak River in Gopalganj. Despite this, illegal sand extraction has been ongoing for a considerable time. To curb this, the District Magistrate had convened a high-level meeting just a day prior, instructing all officials to conduct thorough inspections of the ghats.

The District Magistrate has made it clear that illegal mining will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and strict action against the offenders will continue. It has been reported that multiple police teams have been formed to locate the escaped mining inspector, conducting raids at potential hideouts. Additionally, vigilance has been heightened in the bordering areas of the district to prevent the accused from fleeing outside.

Senior officials have stated that every possible effort is being made to apprehend the escaped mining inspector, and he is expected to be captured soon.
