Bihar Home Department Transfers 71 IPS Officers in Major Reshuffle

Patna: The Bihar Home Department on Friday announced a significant administrative reshuffle involving the transfer of 71 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. The General Administration Department issued an official notification detailing the changes.

Key Appointments Among Senior IPS Officers

Preeta Verma of the 1991 batch has been appointed as the Director General of the Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation in Patna. Previously, she served as the Director General (Training) of Bihar Police.

Kundan Krishnan, a 1994 batch officer, has been promoted and assigned the post of Director General (Operations). Earlier, he was serving as Additional Director General (ADG) at the headquarters and operations. He has also been given additional charge of the Bihar Police Special Branch.

Another 1994 batch officer, R. Malar Vili, has been transferred and posted as ADG of the Special Armed Force in Bihar. He was previously the ADG at the Bihar Police Training Institute in Rajgir.

Amit Kumar Jain, who was ADG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been transferred to serve as ADG of the Prohibition Department. Sunil Kumar has been posted as ADG at the state headquarters, moving from his earlier role in the Special Branch.

Kamal Kishore Singh has been entrusted with additional charge as ADG of the Railway Department, continuing his service as ADG in the Budget and Police Welfare Department. Ranjit Kumar Mishra, earlier IG of Bihar Special Armed Force, has been transferred to serve as IG of the Cyber Crime Security Unit.

Manoj Kumar, IG of the Saharsa range, has been transferred to the Police Headquarters in Patna.

District-Level Transfers to Strengthen Law and Order

The reshuffle also includes significant changes at the district level with transfers and new appointments of Superintendent of Police (SP) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) across various districts.

According to the official notification, Santosh Kumar has been appointed SP of Kishanganj, Kantesh Kumar Mishra as SSP of Muzaffarpur, and Jitendra Kumar as SP of Araria. Vinay Tiwari has been posted as SP of Gopalganj, while Hridaykant takes charge as SP of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

Sushil Kumar has assumed the role of SSP in Gaya. Other appointments include Anant Kumar as Railway SP, Pramod Kumar Yadav as SSP of Bhagalpur, and Vineet Kumar as SSP of Saran.

Sagar Kumar has been appointed as Traffic SP in Patna, with Puran Kumar Jha taking charge as SP of Siwan. Navjot Simi is the new SP of Arwal, Ramanand Kaushal of Bagaha, and Awadhesh Dixit of Lakhisarai. Shubhank Mishra has been appointed as SP of Shivhar.

This comprehensive reshuffle aims to strengthen district-level policing, improve law and order, and enhance administrative efficiency as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts.

The Bihar Home Department’s transfers reflect a strategic approach to bolster the police force’s capability in maintaining public safety and ensuring effective governance throughout the state.
