Bihar Government Establishes Separate Directorate for MSMEs, Addressing Small Industries Concerns: Shyam Sundar Bhimsaria

Muzaffarpur, August 6: The Bihar government has taken significant steps to promote micro and small industries for the first time. Shyam Sundar Bhimsaria, President of Laghu Udyog Bharati Bihar, announced on Thursday that the government is moving forward by establishing a separate directorate and formulating new policies for entrepreneurs in this sector.

In an interview, Bhimsaria stated, “For the first time, the Bihar government is addressing the concerns of micro and small industries. Previously, the policies created by the Bihar government were applicable to the entire industry, benefiting mostly medium and large enterprises, while micro and small industries were often overlooked.”

He explained that the government has appointed a dedicated director for MSMEs. Bhimsaria mentioned, “The Bihar government has created a separate director for MSMEs, who will be responsible for advancing these industries.”

According to the president, the government has also initiated the policy-making process. He said, “In this direction, the Bihar government has started formulating policies. We are closely analyzing each point with the MSME director and the active associations to determine how to benefit as many industries as possible.”

He highlighted the challenges faced by micro industries regarding subsidies. Bhimsaria noted, “Take the issue of subsidies, for instance. Micro industries receive very little benefit from subsidies because they often cannot complete the necessary paperwork. In reality, micro industries are the backbone of the country’s economy and employment sector. Therefore, we must strengthen them. They should not be harassed by any department.”

Praising another significant decision by the Bihar government, he mentioned a revolutionary move regarding land. He stated, “Considering land issues, the Bihar government has made a groundbreaking decision, which has also been passed by the assembly. Until now, industrial land was on leasehold, causing various forms of harassment for industries. However, it has now been accepted to convert such lands from leasehold to freehold. This has been passed by the assembly, and now the ownership of the land will belong to the entrepreneur.”
