Bangladesh Strengthens Position Against Pakistan in Sylhet Test

Sylhet, May 17: Bangladesh has solidified its position in the second Test against Pakistan at Sylhet International Stadium. By the end of the second day’s play, Bangladesh scored 110 runs for the loss of 3 wickets, leading by a total of 156 runs. They had a first-innings lead of 46 runs.

The start of Bangladesh’s second innings was disappointing, losing their first wicket, Tanzid Hasan, for just 15 runs. However, Mominul Haque and Mahmudul Hasan Joy quickly turned the game around, forming a solid partnership of 76 runs for the second wicket. Joy scored 52 runs off 64 balls, hitting 10 boundaries before being dismissed. Following this, Mominul and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto added 19 runs for the third wicket. Haque was out for 30 runs off 60 balls at a total of 110 runs, marking the end of the day’s play. Captain Shanto remains unbeaten on 13 runs.

With the first-innings lead of 46 runs, Bangladesh now enjoys a total lead of 156 runs.

Earlier, Pakistan’s first innings concluded at 232 runs, with Babar Azam being the top scorer at 68 runs. Sajid Khan, batting at number nine, contributed 38 runs, while captain Shan Masood and Salman Agha both scored 21 runs.

For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz each took 2 wickets, while Naeem Hasan and Taijul Islam claimed 3 wickets each.

Previously, Bangladesh’s first innings ended at 278 runs, thanks to Liton Das’s impressive 126 runs.
