Ayodhya, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : The Ayodhya Municipal Corporation has taken significant action by issuing notices for 80 dilapidated buildings in the city. This decision comes shortly after a tragic incident in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area, where a building collapse led to the deaths of seven individuals, including five students.
Municipal Commissioner Jayendra Kumar addressed reporters, stating that the chief engineer has identified these structures as no longer safe for habitation. He explained that vacant buildings are being sealed, while residents of occupied buildings are being urged to vacate for safety reasons and to carry out necessary repairs where possible.
Kumar further indicated that residents of buildings deemed beyond repair are being asked to relocate. Responding to inquiries about demolishing these buildings, he confirmed that further actions would be taken in accordance with legal provisions.
Meanwhile, following the collapse in Delhi on September 6, an FIR has been filed against unidentified individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code at the South Campus police station. The investigation has led to the arrests of building owners Urmila Gupta, Hari Ram Gupta, and Mahesh Gupta, along with contractor Sanjog and PG operator Sudhanshu Lownish Kumar.
Additionally, lawyer Shubham Tyagi, who had been evading arrest, surrendered at the Patiala House Court last Friday. His anticipatory bail plea was rejected just a day prior. The Delhi police have requested a two-day custody for Tyagi and co-accused Sudhanshu Lownish Kumar to facilitate further questioning. This development occurred under the jurisdiction of Additional Sessions Judge Saurabh Pratap Singh Lalra, who denied Tyagi’s bail application on Thursday.
