Ayodhya case: Supreme Court to announce verdict today

The supreme court will deliver its verdict on the Ayodhya land case today. The apex court had reserved its judgement on October 16 after completing a day to day hearing of the case. Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi heads the 5 judge constitution bench. A bunch of appeals challenging the Allahabad high court order were heard by the apex court in a marathon 40 day hearing.

Ahead of the Judgement clerics and priests have appealed to people to honour the Supreme Court’s verdict and respect religious sentiments. The various sides have also said that they will respect the judgement.

The Uttar Pradesh DGP has advised people to exercise caution on the social media rumours and not believe anything that is making rounds there without official confirmation. Police has also made it clear that anyone who indulges in rumour mongering will be strictly dealt with. UP DGP has asked state police to initiate FIR or take legal action against those making objectionable posts on social media and initiate proceedings for to have these accounts blocked. He added further that trail should be retained even of deleted posts.

The Uttar Pradesh administration has set up multi-layered security arrangements in the temple town of Ayodhya with drones being used to monitor the situation. Several companies of central forces along with PAC and RAF have been deployed in the temple city besidesĀ  ATS and snipers have been engaged.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the closure of all schools, colleges, educational institutions and training centres in the state from Saturday to Monday.
