Ahmedabad, March 9: The atmosphere across India is jubilant following the national team’s victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final. As soon as India clinched the win, fireworks erupted, and congratulations poured in from all corners.
India triumphed over New Zealand by a remarkable 96 runs, showcasing exceptional batting and bowling. All-rounder Axar Patel made a significant contribution, taking three wickets. His father, Rajesh Patel, expressed immense pride in his son’s achievements during an interview, stating, “Axar’s performance is a matter of pride for the country and all of us. We always hope he does something special that makes every Gujarati and every citizen feel that he has accomplished something remarkable and helped bring the trophy home for the nation.”
Rajesh Patel added, “As soon as India won, many people gathered outside my house, chanting ‘Axar, Axar.’ It felt wonderful, and I was filled with pride for my son. After the victory, Axar called me, and I congratulated him. People from Ahmedabad and across the country are thrilled with his performance.”
Rajya Sabha MP Narhari Amin remarked on India’s victory, saying, “Yesterday was a historic moment. The world’s largest Narendra Modi Stadium, with a capacity of nearly 130,000, was completely packed. All the Indian players performed well. This victory will continue to inspire the Indian team moving forward, and their performances will only improve.”
Notably, Axar Patel is among the few Indian players who have won the T20 World Cup title twice, being part of the champion teams in both 2024 and 2026.
