Patiala, April 28: The Patiala police reported an attempted explosion on a railway track near the Shambhu-Haryana border. This information came after suspicious activities were observed in the area. Police teams quickly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection with senior officials.
Patiala’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varun Sharma stated that the police received a tip-off about a potential blast on the railway track near the Shambhu-Haryana border last night. It was indicated that a low-intensity explosion could occur. Initial investigations revealed that there was indeed an attempt to carry out a significant blast. The individual involved in this attempt was found dead at the scene, and the body has been recovered.
The SSP confirmed that there were no reports of injuries or property damage. All scientific evidence, including a SIM card found at the site, has been collected and handed over to the technical investigation team. He assured that the entire conspiracy would soon be uncovered, with the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) actively investigating the matter.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal, condemned the serious intelligence failure that led to the cowardly blast attempt on the Delhi-Rajpura railway track near Shambhu. He criticized the lack of preventive measures despite receiving specific threat information days earlier.
Badal pointed out that this incident follows multiple blasts at police stations and checkpoints, as well as an RPG attack on the state intelligence headquarters. He urged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who also serves as Home Minister, to wake up from his deep slumber and take immediate steps to secure essential infrastructure. He warned that Mann’s careless attitude is pushing Punjab back into a dark era that is completely unacceptable.
