Visakhapatnam, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reached out to Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, requesting a thorough investigation into the death of 21-year-old student Himashree Boro. Her body was discovered in Srikakulam after she went missing during a train journey on October 6.
Himashree had traveled to Visakhapatnam to attend an event. She reportedly vanished after boarding the Vivek Express for her return trip. Concerns were raised when she expressed fear about traveling alone in a crowded train compartment.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) is currently investigating whether she accidentally fell from the moving train or was pushed. The Srikakulam district police have formed a special team to assist the GRP in the inquiry. Her body was located near Boddepalli, between the Amadalavalasa and Ponduru railway stations.
In his letter, Sarma noted that Himashree, a resident of Kamrup district in Assam, was traveling with a dance troupe and was returning to Guwahati. On October 6, her family received a disturbing message from her, indicating her fear due to the presence of many men around her.
After her disappearance, her bag was found in the train’s S-2 coach, and her body was later recovered from a forested area near Malayapuram in Srikakulam district. Given the circumstances, there are growing concerns about potential foul play or a criminal incident. The situation has sparked deep sorrow and concern in Assam.
Sarma has urged Naidu and Vaishnaw to conduct a comprehensive, impartial, and timely investigation into the events surrounding her disappearance and the recovery of her body, emphasizing the need to uncover the truth. He insisted that if any wrongdoing is identified, those responsible must be swiftly brought to justice.
