Mumbai, August 11: Maharashtra Minister Ashish Shelar condemned the brutal attack on students peacefully protesting in Ranchi over the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) paper leak and employment demands. He questioned who ordered the attack and challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to raise this issue in the Lok Sabha, demand resignations, or resign himself. Shelar sarcastically likened Congress’s affection for students to that of ‘Putna Mausi.’
Shelar pointed out that ignoring the protests in Ranchi while focusing on demonstrations at Jantar Mantar highlights the opposition’s hypocrisy. He noted that the students were protesting with patience and discipline, without using any offensive language. Yet, they faced barbed wire barriers, tear gas, and brutal police baton charges.
He described the incident as extremely unfortunate and stated that it deserves utmost condemnation. Shelar asked, “This government is not just the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s. Rahul Gandhi leads this government with 16 MLAs and four ministers. What stance will Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Hemant Soren take now? Has the opposition turned a blind eye to this issue?”
He also questioned Rahul Gandhi’s silence, stating that while he displayed false sympathy in Delhi, he did not visit Jharkhand to wipe away the students’ tears. Shelar wondered why Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray remained silent and if Congress would distance itself from the ruling coalition in Jharkhand in response to the violence.
He characterized the opposition’s concern for students as superficial, dubbing it ‘Putna Mausi’s love.’ According to him, the opposition has no genuine concern for the future of students and is only interested in politics for their convenience.
Shelar asserted that the BJP stands firmly with the youth and students of Jharkhand. He demanded that Rahul Gandhi and Congress unconditionally apologize to the youth of the nation for their double standards.
He further stated that Parliament should be a place for discussing people’s issues and finding solutions, but the opposition is obstructing proceedings by spreading false statements and misinformation.
Shelar concluded, “Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be present in Parliament to answer the opposition’s questions. Be ready to hear the truth. Do not run away; do not act cowardly.”
