Arunachal Governor extends Sangken Festival greetings

Itanagar, April 13 : Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra has extended his warm greetings to the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Sangken. He expressed his hope that the sacred Sangken Festival will usher in a happy and prosperous year ahead. In his message, the Governor said that the Sangken festival is the occasion when the images of Lord Buddha are given a ceremonious bath. This also heralds the New Year of Tai Khamti and Singpho comm ties. During the Sangken Festival, people sprinkle water on each other in joy and merriment, he said. “On this blessed day, I offer my prayer to Lord Buddha to give each one of us his choicest blessings. May this festival of our Tai Khamti and Singpho brethren bind each one of us in fraternal love, goodwill and cooperation,” the Governor said in his message. The Governor also greeted the people of the State on the birth anniversary of ‘Bharat Ratna’ Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, and expressed hope that the occasion will instil renewed enthusiasm for building an equitable society. “On his birth anniversary, I appeal to all my fellow Arunachalis to uphold the values and spirit of the Indian Constitution for development, progress and prosperity of all sections of the society, State and Nation”, the Governor said in his message.
