Army Medical Corps motorcycle expedition reaches Sikkim

Gangtok, April 19 : A motorcycle expedition organised by the Army Medical Corps on Tuesday reached Sikkim after driving across the seven states. On reaching the Sikkim Manipal versity, the riders were felicitated and offered traditional Khadas (Scarves) by the Vice-Chancellor Lieutenant General (retd) Rajan S Grewal, at a function attended by the faculty and students of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences. Grewal flagged off the expedition towards Nathula, its next destination in Sikkim. The peloton led by Kargil Gallantry awardee Colonel Rajesh W Adhau included Lt Col.Veerbhadrappa (Eye Specialist). Lt Col Mrigank Chubey ( Pediatric) Lt Col Mahesh Mahto,, Major Girish G, Major Srinivas,( a Para Motor Pilot), Havildar Vinayak Dhamale and NK Deepak Kumar Singh, with two men in reserve. The expedition is stated to be a part of ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.The Motorcyclists have been motivating the doctors including the Cornea warriors in the far-flung areas in the course of their journey. They are scheduled to cover 10000 kms within twenty days. So far the expeditionists have covered the Northeastern region and West Bengal till April 22.
