Mumbai, April 13: In a shocking incident in Palamu district, Jharkhand, brazen criminals opened fire on a couple running a Pragya Kendra during a robbery. The attack occurred near Hutar in the Ramgarh police station area. The female operator sustained a gunshot wound to her leg, while her husband narrowly escaped injury.
The assailants made off with a bag containing approximately ₹3 lakh. Reports indicate that Shama Parveen, a resident of Barwadih in Latehar district, was operating the Pragya Kendra in Hutar. On Monday, she was traveling with her husband, Israfel, on a motorcycle from Barwadih to Hutar when they were ambushed by four criminals on two bikes.
As the couple resisted the robbery, the attackers fired three to four rounds at them. One bullet struck Shama Parveen in the leg, while another grazed Israfel’s ear. After the incident, local residents rushed the injured couple to the community health center in Barwadih. Santoshi Shekhar, a district council member from Barwadih, visited the hospital to check on their condition and urged the management to ensure they receive proper medical care.
Ramgarh police station chief Omprakash Shah stated that law enforcement has inspected the crime scene and cordoned off the area in pursuit of the suspects. “We are identifying the culprits based on CCTV footage and local intelligence. The robbers will be apprehended soon,” he assured.
