Arjun Kapoors Personality Rights Case to be Heard by Delhi High Court on October 8

New Delhi, April 29: Bollywood and South Indian cinema stars have increasingly sought legal protection for their personality rights. Recently, actor Arjun Kapoor filed a case in the Delhi High Court demanding interim protection for his personality rights. The court has scheduled a hearing for October 8 to issue a ruling on the matter.

The Delhi High Court stated that not all content about public figures can be banned unless it is deemed defamatory. The court emphasized that ordinary citizens do not typically approach the court for personality rights protection. When individuals are in the public eye, various discussions arise. While some content may be offensive or defamatory, not all material falls within this scope. The next hearing is set for October 8.

Arjun Kapoor has approached the Delhi High Court to safeguard his personality rights against the misuse of AI and explicit content. His lawyer noted that several online platforms are using the actor’s image without permission, including deepfake videos generated through AI technology.

Previously, prominent South Indian stars like Allu Arjun and Kartik Aaryan have also sought court intervention for the protection of their personality rights. The court granted relief to Allu Arjun by prohibiting the unauthorized use of his videos and images. Similarly, the Bombay High Court provided relief to Kartik Aaryan by banning the unauthorized use of his name, voice, image, and AI-generated deepfake videos.

Additionally, several other celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Vivek Oberoi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Telugu actor Nagarjuna, Abhishek Bachchan, and film producer Karan Johar, have also received court protection for their personality rights.
