Jodhpur : The anniversary of victory in 1971 Indo-Pak war was celebrated as Vijay Diwas at Konark War Memorial on 16 December 2022. The nation remembered to pay homage to the Bravehearts who made supreme sacrifice as also to instill a sense of pride amongst people and spread the message of solidarity with veterans. The event saw huge attendance of Senior Military Personnel, Senior Bureaucrats, Police, Border Security Force, Air Force, NCC cadets and school students.
Maharaja Gaj Singh Il was the chief guest of the event. Maharaja Gaj Singh II, Lieutenant General Rakesh Kapoor, Genral Officer Commanding, Konark Corps and veterans laid wreath in the morning as a mark of respect to those who made the supreme sacrifice in 1971 INDO PAK WAR. This was followed by hoisting 108 feet National Flag, presented to the Konark War Memorial by The Flag Foundation of India.
This giant National Flag was hoisted by Brig Shakti Singh (Retd), a war veteran. The facility of E-Shraddhanjali was placed to facilitate the general public to offer tributes to the fallen heroes at the touch of a button. The tales of bravery was narrated by the veterans who have participated in these operations. The event culminated with military band playing National Anthem and patriotic music.
The Konark Corps commander also felicitated the Gallantry award winners who participated in the historic 1971 Indo-Pak war and interacted with the Veer Naris and Veterans. This event brought the youth to realise the glorious past of Indian Armed Forces and motivated them to contribute positively for nation building .
