Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu Welcomes Election Commissions Clarification on Voter List Review
Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu praises the Election Commissions clarification on the voter list review, emphasizing trust in democratic institutions.

New Delhi, September 26 (Daily Kiran) : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who also leads the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), expressed his support for the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) unanimous clarification regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. He hailed this clarification as a reaffirmation of the integrity and credibility of India’s constitutional institutions.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Naidu noted that the clarification issued by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Election Commissioner S.S. Sandhu, and Vivek Joshi has dispelled misconceptions surrounding the process. He emphasized that decisions related to the SIR were made collectively and adhered strictly to institutional protocols.
Naidu raised concerns about attempts to undermine global trust in India’s democratic framework for short-term political gains, labeling such efforts as “extremely unfortunate.” He stressed that electoral outcomes reflect the public mandate, and true leadership lies in graciously accepting both victories and defeats.
Highlighting the importance of respecting constitutional institutions, Naidu urged leaders from all political parties to uphold public confidence in India’s democratic process. His remarks come at a time when there are rising questions in certain political circles regarding the functioning of the Election Commission and revisions to the voter list.
Naidu’s statement aligns with the broader stance of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which advocates for protecting the autonomy and credibility of the Election Commission against politically motivated attacks. As a prominent leader within the NDA and a former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Naidu’s comments are seen as a move to bolster confidence in the electoral system ahead of upcoming elections.
The Election Commission’s clarification emphasized that the ongoing SIR process is being conducted in accordance with established procedures and is free from external influence. By publicly supporting the Commission’s stance, Naidu has firmly aligned himself and his party with the institutional framework that underpins India’s electoral democracy.
He reiterated that public trust in democratic institutions is fundamental to India’s governance system and should not be compromised for partisan purposes. Naidu’s call for collective responsibility in the political arena reinforces efforts to maintain confidence in the democratic process.
