Andhra: 10 injured as temple flag mast caves-in

Kakinada, April 15 : At least ten people were injured, of whom two critically, when a 60-feet height temple flag mast (Dhwaja Sthambam) caved-in while being erected in front of Sri Meenakhsi Neela Kanteswera Swamy Temple which is under renovation in Neelapalli village of Thallarevu Mandal, 35 kms from here, on Friday . The devotees gathered in large numbers to witness the divine event of `Dwaja Sthambam Pratishta’ ran helter skelter in panic. The injured have been rushed to nearby government hospital in Yanam where the condition of two persons were highly critical, police said. The age-old temple was dilapidated as such under renovation and the mishap occurred when the new flag mast was being erected due to snapping of pulley rope, police added. XC VV GK
