
Mumbai, August 25: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently shared fond memories of his interactions with the legendary singer-actor Kishore Kumar. The two icons collaborated during their careers and met on numerous occasions. In a heartfelt recount, Bachchan revealed a memorable phone call where Kishore mistakenly thought he was speaking to his son, Amit Kumar, upon hearing Amitabh’s voice.
Bachchan also reminisced about visiting Kishore’s home, where the singer warmly welcomed him. In an upcoming episode of the quiz show “Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18,” Amitabh will reflect on Kishore’s generous spirit. He described Kishore as a kind-hearted individual who always greeted him with warmth.
Amitabh recalled the time he had the opportunity to sit with Kishore in a recording studio. He shared, “Once, Kishore invited me to his home. Back then, video cassettes were popular, and Kishore had a passion for collecting them. He proudly showcased his extensive collection of films and videos, brimming with excitement.”
Additionally, Amitabh narrated a humorous phone call incident. He said, “One day, when I introduced myself over the phone by saying, ‘This is Amit speaking,’ Kishore thought it was his son, Amit Kumar, calling.”
During the show, contestant Virendra Jaiswal, hailing from Kishore Kumar’s birthplace, Khandwa, spoke about the singer’s deep connection with the city. He noted, “Kishore Kumar’s songs are so ingrained in the hearts of Khandwa’s people that they start humming his tunes at the mere mention of his name.”
Virendra added, “Kishore Kumar was a multifaceted talent, excelling as a singer, actor, writer, and in many other entertainment fields. There is hardly any domain where he did not leave his mark. His birthday, August 4, is celebrated in Khandwa with great enthusiasm, with people singing his songs in various neighborhoods.”
He also shared an emotional insight, stating, “In Khandwa, when a child is born, the first name they hear is ‘Kishore.’ This reflects the profound bond Kishore Kumar shares with the people of his hometown.”
