Amit Shah Hails ‘Viksit Bharat Budget’ as Vision for a Leading India

New Delhi: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and their team for the 2026-27 Union Budget. He praised the budget as a comprehensive blueprint aimed at empowering all sectors, communities, and citizens of India.

In a post on the social media platform X, Amit Shah wrote that the Budget 2026-27 demonstrates the government’s firm commitment to making India self-reliant and developed. He described the ‘Viksit Bharat Budget’ as a vision to build an India that leads globally across various fields.

The budget covers a wide spectrum, from manufacturing and infrastructure to healthcare and tourism, and from rural development to artificial intelligence. It empowers youth, women, and farmers in every village, town, and city. Shah highlighted that this budget lays out a roadmap for the next 25 years towards achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.

The ‘Viksit Bharat Budget’ symbolizes a new identity for India as a confident and emerging economic power. It builds on Prime Minister Modi’s visionary economic policies post-COVID, accelerating India’s growth and positioning it as a global investment hub across traditional and new-age industries.

A notable feature of the budget is the focus on increasing farmers’ income through livestock development. Measures include increasing the number of veterinarians, expanding veterinary and training centres, and providing credit-linked subsidies for the dairy and poultry sectors. Initiatives to develop 500 reservoirs to boost fisheries and facilitate access to global markets were also announced.

In line with Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of village self-governance, the budget introduces the ‘Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj Yojana’ to strengthen the rural economy and support weavers, farmers, and handloom industries. The coconut promotion scheme will benefit about 3 crore farmers, while steps to enhance cashew and sandalwood production and exports show the government’s commitment to making agriculture a profitable enterprise.

Connectivity will receive a major boost with seven high-speed rail corridors announced to reduce travel time and better link major economic and population centres. This infrastructure push aims to enhance employment and raise India’s growth prospects, especially in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

Amit Shah congratulated Prime Minister Modi on this milestone budget, which balances development with fiscal discipline by targeting a fiscal deficit below 4.5 percent. The budget allocates Rs 12.2 lakh crore for capital expenditure, supporting the vision of a ‘Future Ready India’ where growth extends beyond metropolitan areas.

The budget also prioritises MSMEs by establishing a Rs 10,000 crore growth fund to help small enterprises in smaller towns grow with professional support. Cultural heritage development is emphasised through plans to develop 15 archaeological sites, including Dholavira, into cultural destinations, enhancing India’s ancient culture globally.

Efforts to boost tourism include developing the Buddhist circuit in five northeastern states, mountain trails in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and Araku Valley, as well as turtle trails in Odisha, Karnataka, and Kerala. Establishing the National Institute of Hospitality aims to provide youth with skills and employment opportunities in the tourism sector.

Education and self-employment form a key part of the vision, with the development of five university townships along major industrial and logistics corridors to promote education-industry integration. The budget also supports research with new and upgraded telescope infrastructure and establishes AVGC labs in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges. The formation of a high-powered committee on ‘Education to Employment and Enterprise’ reflects the government’s commitment to building a skilled and leading India.
