New Delhi, May 12: Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended his greetings on ‘Sarhind Fateh Day’ on Tuesday. He described Baba Banda Singh Bahadur as a true warrior, dedicated to the protection of religion and a symbol of unwavering commitment.
In a post on the social media platform X, Shah wrote, “Best wishes on ‘Sarhind Fateh Day’ to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, who embodied steadfast loyalty to faith, total dedication to the motherland, and extraordinary courage against injustice. He organized farmers to fight against oppression and defeated the Mughals, delivering an eternal message of self-respect, bravery, and religious defense. Despite enduring countless atrocities, he never accepted conversion. His life will always inspire the defense of the nation and religion.”
Sukhbir Singh Badal, president of the Shiromani Akali Dal, also took to social media, stating, “The victory of Sarhind under the leadership of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and the end of Wazir Khan was not merely a political victory. It is a direct testament that Guru Gobind Singh Ji bestowed ‘Amrit’ upon the oppressed, enabling them to confront the most powerful and tyrannical regime of that time.”
He added, “The sacred land of ‘Fateh Burj,’ where Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and all the martyr warriors displayed their valor, stands witness to the establishment of justice through their indomitable courage, following the orders of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. On this auspicious occasion of ‘Sarhind Fateh Day,’ we pay our humble tribute to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and all the martyr warriors. Congratulations to everyone on ‘Sarhind Fateh Day.'”
Former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal remarked in her post on X, “The victory at Sarhind is not just a win for a city or geographical area; it represents the triumph of truth over falsehood, justice over oppression, and rights over tyranny. ‘Sarhind Fateh Day’ reminds us that when oppression exceeds its limits, the power of truth and faith brings it to an end. The outrage that arose within the Khalsa Panth after the heartbreaking martyrdom of the young Sahibzadas led to the saga of Sarhind’s victory. On this day, we pay heartfelt homage to the bravery of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and all the martyr warriors who conquered Sarhind. Congratulations to everyone on ‘Sarhind Fateh Day.'”
