Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi Arrive in Chennai Amid Heightened Security

Chennai, April 5: The election campaign in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has reached a critical phase. On Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, are set to arrive in Chennai. In light of their visits, security measures at the airport have been significantly tightened.

According to official sources, Amit Shah will arrive at Chennai Airport from Kochi via a private jet at 3:15 PM. Shortly thereafter, at 3:20 PM, he will depart for Puducherry in a private helicopter. There, he will campaign in support of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates. This visit is seen as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s efforts to strengthen its foothold in Puducherry.

After concluding his program in Puducherry, Amit Shah is expected to return to Chennai via helicopter around 6:10 PM. Reports indicate that he will not exit the airport immediately but will spend some time in the VIP lounge of the old terminal. Senior leaders from the Tamil Nadu BJP are scheduled to meet him to discuss electoral strategies and coordination. Following this, he will depart for New Delhi by private jet later in the evening.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Chennai from New Delhi at 10:00 AM on Monday. Senior leaders from the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee will welcome him at the airport. After his arrival, he will hold a closed-door meeting in the VIP lounge with party leaders to discuss campaign strategies and future plans.

Subsequently, Rahul Gandhi is expected to head towards Puducherry, where he will campaign in support of Congress and alliance candidates. His return schedule to Chennai remains unclear, suggesting he may continue his engagements in the region.

Given the simultaneous arrival of two prominent leaders, airport authorities have implemented stringent security arrangements. Officials have conducted an emergency meeting to review all protocols, regulated the issuance of VIP passes, and taken special measures to ensure smooth movement within the airport.
