Allegations of Election Fraud in West Bengal: SP Leaders Accuse BJP and Election Commission

Lucknow, May 5: Leaders from the Samajwadi Party (SP) have accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of colluding with the Election Commission to secure victory in West Bengal, following the Trinamool Congress’s (TMC) defeat. SP leader ST Hasan claimed that the Election Commission is not conducting fair elections.

In an interview with a news agency, Hasan stated, “If the opposition does not unite, the BJP will continue to benefit. The communal atmosphere in the country will reach unprecedented levels. During the West Bengal elections, votes were stolen, with 9.2 million votes removed, resulting in 3.2 million people being deprived of their voting rights. Given these circumstances, it was clear that Mamata didi would not return to power. The Election Commission is not conducting fair elections. This victory belongs to both the BJP and the Election Commission.”

In response to SP leader Kiranmay Nanda attributing TMC’s defeat to corruption and misgovernance, SP spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chand remarked, “If such a statement has been made, it may be a personal opinion. Akhilesh Yadav has already stated that the role of the Election Commission and the manner of conducting elections is not conducive to democracy. The Samajwadi Party believes that democracy should remain strong. Questions arise in certain areas, especially regarding Bengal. There are serious concerns about the Election Commission’s role and its statements. There are numerous issues and questions regarding the misuse of agencies.”

Chand further emphasized, “Every political party has the right to contest elections, and Congress also participated there. It is true that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has always advocated for like-minded parties to come together. We should unite and contest elections on a common platform. For this, Akhilesh Yadav and the Samajwadi Party have made significant sacrifices in Uttar Pradesh, so Congress should also approach the elections with a generous spirit.”

Meanwhile, MP Krishna Devi Patel stated, “This time, TMC could have formed the government, but the BJP secured victory through fraud and deception. There was no corruption, as alleged by the BJP. They won through deceit, but this will not work in Uttar Pradesh. We are preparing for 2027, and we are confident that the Samajwadi Party will form the government.”
