Akhilesh Yadav Takes Control of Lohia Trust, Dismisses Uncle Shivpal Ahead of UP Elections

New Delhi, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant political shift, Akhilesh Yadav has taken over as the president of the Lohia Trust, effectively sidelining his uncle, Shivpal Yadav. This change comes as the Samajwadi Party (SP) gears up for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections. Shivpal had led the trust for the past decade, but now the reins are firmly in Akhilesh’s hands.

The Lohia Trust has played a crucial role in the SP’s operations, focusing on promoting socialist ideologies and fundraising for the party. Shivpal Yadav had been at the helm since 2017, following a family dispute that saw Mulayam Singh Yadav transfer leadership from Professor Ramgopal Yadav to him. The trust’s long-standing history predates the party itself, making it a vital part of the SP’s legacy.

A recent meeting of the trust concluded with unanimous support for Akhilesh’s new role. All eight members, including Shivpal, endorsed the decision. With this move, Akhilesh now presides over both the Lohia Trust and the Janeshwar Trust.

Political analysts suggest that this consolidation of power under Akhilesh marks a departure from the previous era, where multiple factions within the party created a fragmented leadership structure. The centralization of authority is seen as a strategic maneuver ahead of the elections.

This development has sparked fresh discussions in Uttar Pradesh’s political circles, particularly regarding the growing rift between Akhilesh and Shivpal. The tensions between the two have been evident since the 2017 family feud, which exposed divisions within the party. Observers are keenly watching how this power shift will influence the SP’s performance in the upcoming elections.
