Prayagraj, May 12: Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), targeted the BJP government during his visit to Prayagraj on Tuesday. He criticized the absence of MLA Pooja Pal in the recent cabinet expansion and suggested that if the party truly respects her, they should appoint her as Deputy Chief Minister.
The former Chief Minister remarked, “Whether this is love from the BJP or affection from the Chief Minister is something only they can clarify. I believed Pooja Pal would be made a minister. I still urge that she should replace the current Deputy CM. What’s wrong with having three Deputy CMs?” His comments are seen as a significant jab at the social and political balance within the BJP.
While speaking to reporters at Prayagraj Airport, Yadav also raised serious allegations against the state government regarding law and order and administrative practices. He referenced a viral video showing the beating of a young man, claiming that instead of taking action after the complaint, the police removed the video and added false names. He questioned, “Is this now the method of the government and police administration—to add false names when caught?”
Yadav further mocked the BJP government regarding the upcoming elections, stating that with only a few months left, development work typically halts during the monsoon. He also took a dig at Deputy CM Keshav Prasad, saying, “They set up a throne for the stool people; they could have assigned a good department.” He later shared this comment on social media.
Responding to the central government’s economic policies and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeals, Yadav stated that this is not a call to address a crisis but rather a “declaration of the government’s downfall.” He criticized the government for boasting about an economy that is now faltering, highlighting issues like the dollar’s status, the declining economy, and farmers’ incomes.
Yadav asserted that the real crisis is the BJP itself. “When everything was fine, why do they need to appeal to the public now?” He also targeted the BJP regarding an arrest in Uttar Pradesh linked to a murder case involving a BJP leader in West Bengal.
He noted, “Those who have photos with the accused are now trying to portray them as innocent.” During his Prayagraj visit, Yadav paid tribute to the late PC Joshi, husband of former BJP MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi, leaving behind several new political messages in the state’s political landscape.
