Ayodhya, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : The president of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, issued a bold challenge to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during his visit to Ayodhya on Thursday. Yadav stated that if Adityanath is confident in his popularity and the performance of his government, he should contest the upcoming elections from the Ayodhya seat.
This challenge has garnered attention, especially since the Samajwadi Party candidate defeated the BJP in Ayodhya during the last elections, despite the BJP’s focus on the Ram Temple movement. Yadav claimed that the BJP is struggling to find a strong candidate for the Ayodhya seat and suggested that internal surveys indicate the party may face another defeat there.
This visit marks Yadav’s third trip to Ayodhya since the inauguration of the Ram Temple in 2024. However, he did not visit the temple during this trip. He criticized the BJP, asserting that the party’s position in Ayodhya is weak, which is complicating their candidate selection process.
He remarked, “If the Chief Minister makes grand claims and is so confident, he should contest from Ayodhya.” Yadav further added, “Since we announced our candidate for Ayodhya, the BJP has been conducting surveys and consistently falling behind. There are discussions that they are unable to find a suitable candidate.”
Reiterating his party’s electoral promises, Yadav emphasized that women in the state will receive annual financial assistance of 40,000 rupees, aiming to bring real change to their lives. He also highlighted plans to restore the pride and identity of Ayodhya, vowing that a Samajwadi government would work towards enhancing development and granting the birthplace of Lord Ram international recognition.
Addressing the current government’s ‘bulldozer justice’ policy, he stated, “In the future, when the Samajwadi government is in power, there will be no discrimination against you, and your shop or home will not be demolished.”
As Uttar Pradesh prepares for significant assembly elections early next year, both ruling and opposition parties have initiated extensive outreach and mobilization efforts to attract voters.
