Kolkata, Mar 11 : West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Friday accused the BJP of winning the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls through fraud and demanded forensic tests of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM). while calling upon all parties opposed to the BJP, including the Congress, to contest the 2024 parliamentary polls together. Addressing mediapersons here, Banerjee said: In Uttar Pradesh, the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party’s vote share has increased by 36 percent, but there was an increase of only six seats. an increase of only 6 seats. “BJP has lost 54 seats in Uttar Pradesh. There were a lot of complaints about EVMs. Akhilesh has been defeated through manipulation. The EVMs should have a forensic test.” “Akhilesh Yadav has lost not because of people’s mandate but due to loot of votes,” Banerjee said. She has once again complained that the EVMs were rigged in Bengal during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Banerjee had campaigned for Yadav in Varanasi in the just-concluded Assembly elections. Banerjee said there was an attempt to do the same thing in Bengal in 2019. “The BJP did not win the people’s vote, it won the vote through machine manipulation. No one knows what will happen in 2024. The way the BJP has won in Uttar Pradesh, it will not be good. The Congress is losing. Now all the regional parties have to te,” she said. Banerjee said with the SP, BSP and the Congress fighting each other, the anti-BJP votes got split. “This also benefited the BJP”. The chief minister hinted at a coalition with the Congress ‘if the Congress wants’. All parties should come together if they want to defeat the BJP “We can all fight (the 2024 general elections) together if Congress wants. Don’t be aggressive for now. Be positive. This win (in four states) will work to BJP’s disadvantage in the long run,” she said, She added: “All political parties which want to fight the BJP should come together. The Congress is losing its credibility. Can’t depend on them”. . She also saw positives in the Trinamool’s performance in Goa, despite the party not managing to win any seat. ‘Trinamool in Goa got six percent votes in only three months. It was an alliance for the people, it was up to them to decide,” she added. BM SSP
