Hyderabad, May 9: Akbaruddin Owaisi, a leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), expressed his aspirations for girls in Hyderabad during a recent video message. He highlighted his daughter’s achievements, stating that she is a barrister, and pledged to support girls from the Old City in pursuing higher education.
Owaisi announced that he would cover the entire educational expenses for any girl aspiring to become a barrister, including tuition, accommodation, and food. “If any girl here wants to become a barrister, she should come to me. I will make her a barrister,” he stated.
He shared his dream of seeing girls from the Old City rise to prestigious positions such as IAS, IPS, IFS, and IRS officers. Owaisi expressed confidence that positive outcomes would emerge through the Salar-e-Millat Educational Trust.
In the latter part of the video, Owaisi addressed questions surrounding the hijab. He affirmed that his “hijab-wearing daughters” would also pass rigorous exams to become IPS officers. He claimed that in the future, female officers wearing hijabs would receive salutes from junior officers.
Targeting opponents of the hijab, Owaisi remarked that while others merely chant slogans like “Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter,” his community has secured top positions in education and professions while preserving both hijab and burqa.
He declared, “Those who wish to take away our hijab should listen carefully. We are not ready to abandon our duties, our Sunnah, our Nafl prayers, our mosques, our Sharia, our facial Sunnah, or our hijab.” Rejecting any suggestions to leave India, Owaisi emphasized, “This country was ours, is ours, and will remain ours. We will continue to wear the hijab, maintain our beards, face the world, and succeed.”
