Ranchi, February 8: The Prime Minister’s Indian Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMBJAK) is a significant welfare initiative by the Government of India, aimed at providing affordable and quality medicines to the public. Located near the RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences) hospital in Ranchi, this Jan Aushadhi center is proving to be a major relief for low and middle-income patients.
Patients and their families visiting RIMS report that the generic medicines available here are 50% to 90% cheaper than branded alternatives, significantly reducing overall treatment costs.
This center offers essential medications for common ailments, as well as critical treatments for diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases, and other serious conditions. Additionally, various surgical supplies are available at economical prices. Patients express satisfaction with the quality of the medicines. Amid rising healthcare costs, this center has emerged as a crucial support for economically disadvantaged groups. Lal Prasad, a customer who visited the center, shared with a news agency that he found high-quality medicines at very low prices. He mentioned that he acquired all necessary medications for just 78 rupees, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Another buyer, Amar Lal Prasad, noted that the medicines at the Jan Aushadhi center are significantly cheaper compared to the market. He stated that this was his first experience purchasing from the center and he was very satisfied with the prices and services.
Dev Uraw, another customer, also shared his experience, highlighting the affordability of the medicines. He explained that if he had bought the same medications from the market, it would have been much more expensive; instead, he obtained three medicines for just 62 rupees at the Jan Aushadhi center.
Jaydeep, the operator of the Jan Aushadhi center, informed that nearly all OPD-prescribed medicines are available at the center, although some specialized OT-related medications are not. He emphasized that obtaining medicines from the Jan Aushadhi center leads to significant savings on long-term treatment costs. He affirmed that the quality of the medicines is superior, making this initiative extremely beneficial for the welfare of the poor.
It is noteworthy that approximately 1,500 low-income patients visit the OPD at RIMS hospital daily. With the availability of medicines at discounts ranging from 50% to 90% at the Prime Minister’s Indian Jan Aushadhi Kendra, patients and their families are experiencing considerable relief, significantly easing the burden of medical expenses.
