Kuala Lumpur, May 6: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has taken strict action against a female match official from Mongolia and a player, imposing bans after they were found guilty of attempting to manipulate the outcome of a match in the AFC Women’s Champions League 2025/26 (preliminary stage). This decision was announced by the AFC’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee on Wednesday.
In a press release, the AFC stated, “Following a thorough investigation, the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee has imposed a 10-year ban on Mongolian football official Munkhtsetseg Batkhuu and a 5-year ban on player Namuna Naramandakh for their involvement in match manipulation.”
Reports indicate that both individuals were found guilty of conspiring to manipulate the results of the match played on August 25, 2025, between Stallion Laguna FC (PHI) and Khovd Western FC (MNG). This act violated Article 66.1 of the AFC’s Disciplinary and Ethics Code.
These bans reaffirm the AFC’s zero-tolerance policy against any form of match manipulation and its ongoing commitment to uphold the integrity of Asian football.
The sanctions align with a four-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) established with the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) in 2024, which reflects the AFC’s dedication to safeguarding and securing the sport in Asia.
This disciplinary action is also in line with FIFA’s stance against match-fixing. FIFA reiterated its commitment during the inaugural FIFA Integrity Summit last year. FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized that the threat of match manipulation remains and can only be addressed through collective efforts by FIFA and its member associations.
