Actor Dev Congratulates BJP on Historic Victory in West Bengal Elections

Mumbai, May 6: Bengali film actor Dev has reacted to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) historic victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections. Long associated with the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Dev took to social media to congratulate the BJP and expressed hope for the end of restrictions in the Bengali film industry, advocating for artistic freedom.

Dev has been closely linked with Mamata Banerjee’s TMC for years. Following the BJP’s significant win, many cinema personalities have shared their responses. Dev clearly stated his desire for artists to be granted creative freedom and expressed optimism for positive changes in the state.

On Facebook, Dev wrote, “Congratulations to the BJP for receiving the mandate to form a new government in Bengal. I sincerely hope this government will work for the progress, peace, and development of our state and ensure that the voices of the people are heard.”

He further added, “Being involved in both public life and the film industry, I humbly request the new government to uphold the spirit of unity and artistic freedom. The culture of restrictions and divisions within the Bengali film industry should now be a thing of the past.”

Dev emphasized that cinema is one of Bengal’s greatest identities. Its growth can only be achieved through mutual respect, coexistence, and collective progress. He also urged the new government to complete the Ghatal Master Plan, stating, “I hope for the support and cooperation of the new government in completing the Ghatal Master Plan. This has long been a cherished dream of the people of Ghatal. Beyond politics, this issue is about saving lives, securing livelihoods, and providing a better future.”
