Patiala, April 6: Sukhbir Badal, the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), announced on Sunday that after the 2027 assembly elections, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his aides will be held accountable for alleged corruption.
Addressing the ‘Punjab Bachao Rally,’ Badal stated that these corrupt individuals believe they can escape to countries like Canada and Australia, where they have hidden their illegal assets. “I want to inform them that they will be held accountable. Even if they flee, they will be brought back to face the law for their crimes,” he asserted.
Responding to a media query, Badal remarked that Chief Minister Mann’s attempts to distort traditional folk songs, known as ‘Kikli,’ will not yield any benefit. “He can create as many ‘Kiklis’ as he wants, but he cannot escape the wrath of Punjabis who want accountability for his betrayal in every possible area,” he added.
Badal challenged Chief Minister Mann to visit any village in Punjab without his 500 police and security personnel, who enforce lockdowns and seize weapons, as seen recently in Jaito. “Once he does that, Punjabis will forget his poor ‘Kiklis’ forever!”
In response to questions about leaders who have separated from the Akali party, Badal appealed to all Punjabis to set aside differences and unite under the banner of the only regional party in Punjab. “Together, we must protect Punjab from the looters of Delhi and restore the pride and prosperity of our state,” he urged.
Regarding the false cases being registered by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Badal stated that once the Shiromani Akali Dal forms the government, a committee will be established under the chairmanship of a sitting judge to investigate all cases within three months. “All false cases will be dismissed, and strict action will be taken against the political leaders and officials responsible for filing such cases,” he concluded.
