ACB Raids District Transport Officer’s Properties in Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Moradabad
Jaipur, January 23 : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted extensive raids on Thursday at multiple locations linked to District Transport Officer Sanjay Sharma. The operation targeted 10 premises across Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Moradabad (UP) in connection with allegations of disproportionate assets acquired through corrupt means.
ACB Launches Investigation Based on Confidential Tip
ACB Director General Dr. Ravi Prakash Meharda revealed that the bureau acted on a confidential tip-off indicating that Sharma had amassed significant movable and immovable assets far exceeding his legal income. Following a detailed verification process, the ACB registered a case and launched simultaneous search operations at dawn.
Assets Uncovered During the Raids
The raids unearthed a significant cache of properties, documents, and investments:
- Real Estate:
- A house in Krishna Nagar, Jaipur.
- A plot in Karni Nagar, Jaipur.
- A land parcel in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.
- 25 bighas of land in Bilari, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.
- Financial Investments:
- Evidence of investments in multiple insurance policies.
- Two bank lockers yet to be opened.
- Numerous bank accounts holding lakhs of rupees.
- Foreign Connections:
- Documents related to funding higher education for Sharma’s children abroad.
- Evidence of international travel is under scrutiny.
Preliminary Estimates Suggest Crores in Disproportionate Assets
The initial investigation, supported by documents and records seized, suggests that Sharma acquired properties and investments worth crores of rupees, vastly disproportionate to his legitimate income. The ACB also uncovered evidence pointing to investments in benami properties under the names of his family members, which are currently under investigation.
