Tilak Varma Attributes Recent Success to Mental Preparation and Divine Blessings

Indore, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : Indian vice-captain Tilak Varma expressed his gratitude for divine support and emphasized the importance of mental preparation ahead of the third T20 match against the West Indies at Holkar Stadium in Indore. Varma has been enjoying significant success in the middle order, which he attributes to rigorous practice and a strong mental focus.

Recently, Varma played a crucial role in a match in Lucknow, scoring an unbeaten 44 runs off just 18 balls. Although he did not need to finish the game in that instance, his previous performance in the 2026 Asian Games showcased his finishing ability. In the gold medal match against Pakistan, Varma scored 51 runs off 22 balls, hitting four sixes and three fours, leading Team India to victory by 19 runs.

Before the toss in Indore, Varma spoke with broadcasters about his recent performances. “First of all, thank you for talking about the Asian Games and the World Cup. It always feels good to hear about it. Yes, God has been very kind to me. My current form is excellent. The way I finished the last match was superb. We are focusing on our fundamentals. Let’s see how long this form lasts,” he stated.

Discussing his shift from the top order to the middle order, the left-handed batsman noted that this transition requires deliberate effort both mentally and in practice. “Honestly, I haven’t batted much at number four. As our coach mentioned, only the openers are fixed, while everyone else rotates. I always believed batting higher up was my strength, but since the World Cup, I’ve adapted to this change. During the World Cup, I batted at five and six, so I’ve been practicing how to finish games from there. I’ve put in a lot of effort mentally and in practice, and yes, everything is going well at the right time,” he added.
