New Delhi, May 9: Manjinder Singh Sirsa, a minister in the Delhi government, launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday. He claimed that corruption is embedded in the party’s DNA. He questioned whether the true model of AAP is to fill their own pockets by exploiting the public.
In a post, Sirsa highlighted the recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid and arrest of Punjab minister Sanjeev Arora, revealing layers of alleged fraud and a significant land scam involving industrial land. He asserted that this incident further confirms that corruption is intrinsic to AAP. He accused the party of turning Delhi into a hub of scams and now replicating that exploitative model in Punjab.
The industrial land in Ludhiana and other areas, initially designated for factories and youth employment, has been misused. Sirsa alleged that regulations were ignored to facilitate illegal construction of luxurious apartments. This is not just a scam; it is a betrayal of farmers whose lands have been seized to enrich these leaders. The fraudulent bills and shell companies indicate that under the guise of creating a “prosperous Punjab,” they have instead rendered it impoverished.
On Saturday, the ED arrested Sanjeev Arora from his official residence in Sector 2. This action followed extensive searches at Arora’s residences and offices under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) of 2002. However, the ED has yet to issue an official statement regarding his arrest.
Earlier that morning, the ED conducted raids at four locations associated with Arora. This marks the third raid within a year, with another conducted in April. According to officials, the search operations took place in Chandigarh and the Delhi-NCR region, including the government residence allocated to Arora as a cabinet minister.
