Don Atiq Ahmad’s son Asad killed in an encounter in UP’s Jhansi

LUCKNOW: Almost two months after lawyer Umesh Pal, a witness in Raju Pal murder was killed in a sensational shootout, UPSTF on Thursday killed gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad’s son Asad Ahmad and his accomplice in UP’s Jhansi. They were wanted in Umesh Pal murder case.

Special DG, law and order, Prashant Kumar, said both Asad and Ghulam were carrying reward of Rs 5 lakh each and were killed in encounter with UPSTF team led by DySP Navendu and DySP Vimal in Babina area of Jhansi.

“Sophisticated foreign made weapons have been recovered from the possession of Asad,” said Kumar.
Umesh Pal along with two of his police gunners was shot dead near Sulemsarai under the limits of Dhoomanganj police station in the Prayagraj district on February 24.

The suspects in the killing were identified as Atiq Ahmad’s son Asad Ahmad and four others, including Armaan, Ghulam, Guddu Muslim and Sabir. Asad is named only in the Umesh Pal murder case while Ghulam has eight cases against his name.

Gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother were produced before a court here on Thursday in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case. They were presented in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Dinesh Gautam around 11:10 am amid security deployment.
