SOUTHERN STAR VIJAY RUN 51ST ANNIVERSARY OF EPIC INDO-PAK 1971 WAR CELEBRATED AS VIJAY DIWAS IN JODHPUR MILITARY STATION

Jodhpur :  In continuance of celebrations to commemorate the valour and sacrifice of bravehearts of Indian Armed Forces in 1971 Indo Pak war, Konark Corps celebrated 51st Vijay Diwas at Jodhpur Military Station by organising a mini marathon, “ Southern Star Vijay Run”. The event witnessed huge attendance of around 3500 persons that included civil and military personnel of Army, Air Force, school/ college students and general public.

The aim of this marathon was to spread the awareness about unparalleled achievement of Indian Armed Forces in 1971 Indo-Pak war to wider audience and use this platform to reiterate Konark Corps’ continued service to the nation. Southern Star Vijay Run was organised in three categories – 4 KM for Children, 5 KM for Women and 12.5 KM for Men. The event was flagged off by Lieutenant General Rakesh Kapoor, General Officer Commanding, Konark Corps for the Men and Children Catagory and by Mrs Poonam Kapoor, Zonal President Konark AWWA for Women Category, at Sagat Singh Stadium.

Master Sachidanand secured first position in Children Category, Mrs Bhavna secured first position amongst women and Lance Naik Raju secured first position in mens category. Special prize was also given to Squadron Leader C Singh, 76 years old veteran who stood out as a pillar of inspiration to all. The prize winners were felicitated by General Officer Commanding, Konark Corps and were given medals and certificates. The event marked a symbol of solidarity and pride wherein the general public ran with the personnel of Indian Armed Forces with great zeal and enthusiasm.
