Civilian wounded in south Kashmir attack

Srinagar, April 13 : A civilian was shot at and injured in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, police said. The attack on the civilian took place two days after a top Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammad commander was killed along with a hybrid militant in a gun battle in the district. The attack on the civilian identified as Satish Kumar Singh, took place in the Pombay Kaprin village of Kulgam this evening. The injured Singh, a local and a driver by profession, has been shifted to hospital in a critical condition. Police said the area has been cordoned to trace the attackers. “Terrorists fired upon a civilian namely Satish Kumar Singh, driver by profession, son of Surinder Kumar Singh resident of Kakran, Kulgam. He has been shifted to hospital for treatment. Area cordoned off. Further details shall follow,” the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted. Over the past weeks, there have been a series of targeted attacks on non-local labourers and a Kashmir Pandit in south Kashmir districts. Meanwhile, the BJP has urged police to nab and p sh the attackers. “Strongly condemn yet another barbaric and cowardice act of terrorists where a civilian Satish Kumar Singh, a driver by profession, a resident of Kulgam, was shot at and injured.
