Pune, Apr 7 : The Nationalist Congress Party has given an offer to join the party to former Maharashtra Navnirman Sena city president Vasant More, who was sacked by party chief Raj Thackeray on Thursday for opposing his directive on removal of mosque loudspeakers. “Vasant More is most welcome in NCP, if he wishes, can join our party,” NCP city president Prashant Jagtap said. More was removed from the post and in his place, former corporator Srinath Babar was appointed as new MNS city president today by Thackeray. More was removed from the party because he opposed MNS chief’s diktat on removal of loudspeakers from mosque. Addressing the Gudi Padwa rally at Shivaji Park in Mumbail, Thackeray had instructed the party workers to remove loudspeakers from all mosques in the state, which has hurt the religious sentiments of the members of Muslim comm ty. Pune NCP spokesperson Pradeep Deshmukh told that at a time when people of the country were facing many difficulties and hardship due to a number of burning issues like inflation and rising prices of fuel, Thackeray’s statements have deeply hurt the sentiments of the comm ty and that too in the month of Ramadan. “All the MNS workers, including Vasant More, who expressed their displeasure with MNS party, are most welcome in NCP,” he said. More, a corporator of MNS, is residing in a ward where most of the population is Muslim and he did not want to disturb the peace in his ward and therefore, he opposed the decision of the party chief.
