Violence continues in Tripura, BJP worker injured in bullet shot

Agartala, Mar 12 : A BJP worker was shot at in Aralia market .when he was returning home after taking part in a celebration programme. Police said the incident took place when BJP worker Sanjay Saha was returning home after taking part in a celebration programme of poll victory in four states around 10.30 PM. The miscreant after injuring him fled away from the spot and Sanjay was rushed to the hospital. Later, East Agartala police arrested one Samir Debnath from his house but no firearms had been seized . Samir was produced in court on Saturday seeking police remand. . However, BJP accused opposition CPI-M of the attack and demanded strict action. Meanwhile, CPI-M sought action against the criminals allegedly belonging to ruling BJP for resorting to attacks on their supporters and setting CPI-M offices on fire after winning in four states. They alleged as many as 45 criminal incidents were reported to police but no action was taken. BJP cadres instigated violence in some places in presence of police, the party further alleged. “We want due compensation of the loss of houses, properties and party offices from the government as per law and book the criminals to restore democracy. BJP is showing their cultural bankruptcy by such violence and people of Tripura would not tolerate it,” said CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Choudhury. BB KK
