Head constable refuses to be garlanded, says corona battle is not over

Udaipur : At a time when reports are pouring in about police and medical teams receiving grand welcome and floral showers from several places, a head constable’s humble refusal to accept garland in the times of infections and viruses would serve as a model for many.

Head constable Kartar Singh is being applauded and hailed in the social media after his video has gone viral where he is seen convincing a delegation which had gone to honor the policeman on duty.

A group of 11 persons had gone to the tourist police station at Rang Nivas near GulabBagh on friday to greet the cops for their relentless efforts towards the society in containing the pandemic. Kartar Singh who was on duty at the junction stopped the delegation and deterred them from doing the honors.

“I meet and stop fifty persons atleast everyday and if anyone of them have had the infection, i would too contract the disease and when you garland me, you all too would get infected in turn” the constable said. He further said the battle against corona is still going on and the lockdown may continue for more weeks. In such circumstances, it is important that people maintain social distancing and not indulge in greeting or honoring the public servants.

One of the men who videographed the episode, posted it on the social media which is gaining overwhelming response among the public. A day ago, Udaipur SP KailashChandra Bishnoi too had turned down a delegation which had gone to greet him on the occasion of police day.
