Lady cops get a day off on Karwa Chauth in Banswara

Udaipur : It had been first time, in her 12 years of service in the police department, Champa remembers of staying at home for the whole day on Karwa Chauth. ” It is no less than a luxury for me to have sat idle the entire day, having mehandi adorned on my hands. My husband did not let me work and so i felt like a queen really” the lady cop told Udaipur Kiran. Champa Roat, the 35 year old constable posted at Garhi police station in Banswara district is one among her peers who enjoyed the special leave granted to women cops from constable to sub-inspector ranks on the occasion of Karwa Chauth.

” Policing is a tough job in general specially for the female staff who survive long working hours while managing their homes. They hardly spend quality time with family and so this surprise leave was granted to the women cops so that they could enjoy the festival which is a symbol of love and respect between husband and wife” Kesar Singh Shekhawat, the Superintendent of Police, Banswara said. In Banswara, among the women in Khaki are 52 constables, 7 head constables and 1 assistant sub inspector. ” I observe fast on Karwa Chauth every year but it had always been a rushy affair. After working for the whole day, i would run home and do the pooja in a hurry but this time, i enjoyed it completely. I even kept nirjala vrat (fasting without intake of water) which would have not been possible, had it not been a holiday” constable Bhagwati Kanwar posted at Ambapura police station said.
